Parr Theater - 1955 - Lancaster SC Photos

Children and teens wait outside The Parr Theater in October of 1955 to see the movie, Ulysses. Going downtown for a Saturday matinee was a tradition on Main Street for years.

This showing was probably an after-school event since many children are holding books.

The theater showed news clips, full-feature movies and serials. In the 50's popcorn was 10 cents and soft drink was 15 cents.

  1. Remember Story Hour at the library with Robbie Horton. Checked out books and walked to movies. Sat. was fun day in the city.
