The Video Connection Arcade - 1983 - Lancaster SC Photos

The Video Connection is seen at 113 S. Main St. in May of 1983.

The business, owned by David Lyles, was part of what some consider the "Golden Age" of video games. Space Invaders, Ms. Pac Man, Galaga and Donkey Kong were just a few of the games that kept children and teens entertained.

Many birthday parties were held at The Video Connection.

Amazing view of the by-pass in 1983. Chick-fil-A, Verizon, Walgreens and many more locations aren't even a thought yet in this aerial photograph. And there is no stop light yet at the intersection of Gillsbrook Rd. and the by-pass. What else do you see in this photograph?

Kilburnie in the Snow - 1958 - Lancaster SC Photos

For years, Lancaster residents wondered what would happen to Kilburnie, seen here in Dec. of 1958.

This Federal-style home, located at 204 N. White St., was built by dentist Joseph Lee between 1826 and 1834. Over the years, Kilburnie began to show its age and eventually was abandoned.

In Feb. of 1999, the weathered structure was moved to Craig Farm Rd. The house was restored and now serves as a bed-and-breakfast inn known as Kilburnie, the Inn at Craig Farm.

In 1979, it was added to the National Register of Historic Places.

Snakes at The Parade - 1961 - Lancaster SC Photos

The Lancaster County Rabies Control Officer rides through downtown Lancaster during the 1961 Christmas parade while holding two live snakes. We're thinking the county attorneys wouldn't allow this nowadays!
