March of Dimes at Main and Gay Streets - 1955 - Lancaster SC Photos

The intersection of Main and Gay streets is seen in 1955 as Lancaster Jaycees (dressed as clowns) ask for donations from drivers for The March of Dimes campaign.

The Bank of Lancaster building can be seen at right.

This image is from 1955, although the release date of the movie playing at The Parr Theater was in the early 1950s. Often theaters would re-release a movie several years later.

Williams Drug Store Front Window - 1955 - Lancaster SC

Did you know?

This is Punky's on Main-Dairy Bar and Grill.

Back in Feb. of 1955, it was Williams Drug and if you look closely, you can see Valentine's Day promotions on the window and inside.

In '55, a giant banana split was just 19 cents.  Lancaster natives remember their amazing cherry cokes and grilled sandwiches.
