If you look closely, you can see the merry-go-round in front of Sky City in 1981. The popular department store was located on the by-pass and today, this building is home of Tractor Supply.

Its name was a tribute to the "Land of the Sky," a nickname for the city of Asheville, where its flagship store was located.
Long before digital photography, many customers would drop off their rolls of film at the drive-up kiosk located outside the store. Their prints would arrive about a week later.
