The pool was a favorite summer spot for children for years.

Col. Springs and Shriners at Springs Park - 1953





























































Col. Elliott White Springs, second from left, serves as the engineer as he gives Shriners a ride on the train at Springs Park in August of 1952. 

The Shriners, from Lancaster and other parts of the state, held a parade on Main St. and then took their families to the park for a picnic.

Bucky Hardin's Perfect Bowling Game - 1967 - Lancaster SC

Springs Park Train - 1956 - Lancaster SC





The engineer gets the the engine ready as families prepare to head out on a train ride at Springs Park on August 8, 1956. 

Springs Park was located near Fishing Creek Reservoir and featured a skating rink, Olympic-size pool, a banquet hall and merry-go-round. 

When this photograph was made, Dwight Eisenhower was president and gasoline was just 30 cents per gallon.

Market St Pool - 1971 - Lancaster SC

We're willing to bet half of every Lancaster child got their swim lessons from Bobbie Hagins.

Here, she patrols the deck at Market Street Pool on July 16, 1971. Hagins taught hundreds of children how to swim over the years.

The pool was located at the intersection of Market St. and Chesterfield Ave, behind the Lancaster County Library.
