Lancaster High School Aerial - 1983 - Lancaster SC Photos




What an amazing image!

Four schools can be seen in this 1983 aerial photograph. At bottom left is Rice School. At middle left above Rice is the vocational school. At center right is Lancaster High School and to the top right is North Elementary.

Lancaster High School Football Field Construction - 1966 - Lancaster SC Photos















































Lancaster High's football field can be seen under construction in this December 1966 photograph. At left is North Elementary, formerly, North Junior High. 

If you look closely, you can see there is no LHS baseball field, Arby's or Lancaster Square. 

At top right is the former Lancaster High School and track beside it.

Lancaster High School and Downtown - 1966 - Lancaster SC Photos












Lancaster High School, center, and downtown are seen in December of 1966. Also seen are Rice School (to the right of LHS) and The Lancaster Career Center (far right edge).

If you look closely towards downtown, you can see the former First Presbyterian Church and the water tower that sat beside the courthouse.

The track that is seen beside LHS is where the present-day high school is located.

This aerial photograph was made while flying fairly low over the current-day Chick-fil-A location.

Yes, we are in awe of this picture. One of the best aerials we've ever seen.

Lavoy Bauknight pulled off a lot of incredible aerials back in the day. He was a pilot and he could get the plane exactly where he wanted instead of trying to explain to a pilot where he needed to be.

Lancaster High School - 1965 - Lancaster SC




















The former Lancaster High School (center right) is seen in this Jan. 1965 aerial photograph facing north. Rice School can be seen below the high school to the left.

The present day vocational school (location to left of track) has not been built yet.

At bottom of image are houses along Normandy Dr.

The LHS baseball field and North Elementary have not been constructed yet, as seen in top of photo.

Lancaster High School - 1965 - Lancaster SC


























The former Lancaster High School (now the Wylie St. Pool) is seen at the intersection of Wylie and York streets in January of 1965.

By this time, the newer Lancaster High School, which was demolished in 1993, was being used as the high school.

Calvary Baptist Church can be seen at left while Meeting St. can be seen above the football field.

Lancaster High School - 1960 - Lancaster SC






























The former Lancaster High School is seen in May of 1960. The building was located near the intersection of French and Catawba streets. The groundbreaking took place in the summer of 1955. The school opened in the fall of 1956. It cost just $427,000.00 to build the 57,000-square-ft. school. The structure was torn down in 1993 to make way for today's Lancaster High School. Lancaster High School and Lancaster Square Aerial - Lancaster SC - 1965


An aerial view of the former Lancaster High School and current day Lancaster Square. The by-pass can be seen in this image at top under construction.
